About the Festival
The Hudson Valley Flamenco Festival is back for its second year bringing world-class flamenco to the Rosendale Theatre Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m. and, new this year, a workshop series and private party Oct.13 at Unison Arts, New Paltz. Producer Anna Mazo Georges is honored to be co-producing with Unison Arts and working again with The Vanaver Caravan in 2019.
At the workshop HVFF artists will teach participants the basic skills needed to understand and take part in a traditional flamenco party.
“We’re really excited to be back this year and adding our new workshop series,” said Anna Mazo Georges, flamenco artist and HVFF producer. “After the workshops our artists our going to kick off the party with some singing and dancing so everyone will have a chance to join in and practice their new skills.”
Workshop options include flamenco dance as wells as rhythm and guitar. All levels and students over 12 years old are welcome.
“Last year we were honored by having a full house at the Rosendale Theatre,” said Anna Mazo Georges. “This year we are excited to add our workshop series to really emphasize that flamenco isn’t just about performing, it is about creating art in collaboration. Now, not only can people enjoy our incredible live performance on Oct. 12th, but they can learn and participant in a flamenco jam on Oct. 13th at Unison. We could not be more excited about joining the community and making flamenco together.”
The Festival will feature performances by singers Mario Rincon and Barbara Martinez; guitarists Jared Newman, Andreas Arnold and Mike Diago; dancers Elisabet Torras and Anna Librada Georges; choreographer Deirdre Towers; and The Vanaver Caravan Youth Company.
