Expectations
Into the Light is a big ensemble performance with a lot of moving parts. All parents, caregivers, and performers should arrive at rehearsals and performances prepared and on good behavior.
Remember, you represent the Vanaver community when you dance with us. Be respectful of the spaces we are in, inclusive and mindful of all the people involved, and responsible for yourself and your belongings.
Bring food & drinks with you as the rehearsals and performance days are long.
We suggest bringing homework, reading, coloring books, playing cards, etc to pass time when not on stage.
During rehearsals & performances, it is absolutely essential that the stage and backstage areas are silent. Please help keep each other quiet.
Volunteers
Parents & Caregivers: Please note that rehearsals and performances are not drop-off situations. We are looking for one or two parents per class to volunteer as a liaison to:
chaperone students and lend a hand backstage, sort costumes, props, puppets, ironing/steaming, helping students stay organized, practice, organize backstage snacks/food, etc.
Georgia Weinman is our amazing parent-coordinator. If you are interested in volunteering, either reply directly to this email or post in the comments section of this post, and we will connect you!
Let us all commit to creating a beautiful, uplifting performance this holiday season. Invite your friends, family, and loved ones to this heartfelt performance. Be kind, and let us shine our light out into the world. Many hands make lite (light) work!

About the Show
Into the Light is a Holiday Spectacular presented by The Vanaver Caravan and Arm of the Sea Puppet Theatre. It is a magical, multicultural pageant that has thrilled audiences of all ages with live music, puppetry, storytelling, and dances from all over the world. The story takes place in a Northern country where young Lucia loses her inner light as the sun’s light diminishes, and is guided through the world’s communities to see how light is kept glowing through the darkest part of the year.
The performance celebrates many of the world’s traditions for bringing light, joy and beauty into the darkest part of the year. Through dance and music, Into the Light honors such holidays as Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Yule, Winter Solstice, Sankta Lucia (Sweden), and Diwali (India).
